Every morning, Ukraine wakes up again.
We continue to live, work, support each other, and find the strength to move forward. But behind our resilience is not only inner strength. We also need to take care of our mental health.
Ahead of World Mental Health Day, a meeting was held in Zaporizhzhia as part of the national mental health programme How Are You? The meeting brought together local government representatives, emergency responders, specialists from different organisations, and volunteers.
Vasylivka community was represented by Oksana Minakova, First Deputy Head of the Vasylivka City Military Administration, and Olena Prokopenko, a How Are You? programme consultant for the community.
During the meeting, participants discussed the results of the programme in the region. They also learned about research on the mental health of Ukrainians and their need for professional support. Special attention was given to making psychological support more accessible, improving cooperation between specialists, and planning the next steps to develop mental health services.
Mental health does not mean having no difficulties. It means being able to face them, find support, and regain our strength.
Let’s take care of ourselves and each other. Because every morning, Ukraine wakes up again and finds the strength to live, believe, and move forward.
The national mental health programme How Are You? was launched by Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelenska. It aims to develop an effective system of mental health and psychosocial support services and encourage people to take care of their mental well-being.
The programme is supported by the Coordination Centre for Mental Health under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, with expert support from the World Health Organization.
